Environmentally Sensitive eco funerals
As society is changing people are more environmentally aware and are looking to minimise the carbon footprint of a funeral, without compromising on the look of a tradition funeral.
We have a lot of experience with Eco Funerals and have buried people in natural woodland burial grounds. In our experience it’s a beautiful way to return someone’s remains back to nature from where they came. The planting of a tree instead of a memorial head stone is a fitting end to a woodland funeral.
Even when considering an Eco Sensitive Cremation we can provide a great many options and choices. We offer a wide range of environmentally friendly coffins, including card board, pine, wicker and the patented Coffin Cover. Jason (Clegg) originally trained to be an undertaker with the company that designed and pioneered the Coffin Cover, over in Bradford in West Yorkshire. It’s a system that has been available for over 15 years.
The coffin cover is a two part Coffin, which utilises an outer casket shell and a cardboard internal coffin. The casket shell looks like a beautiful English Oak Casket and is designed to be collapsed following the funeral and used again. It’s a similar idea to a bag for life.
The internal cardboard Coffin is used to hold your loved one while they are on their final journey and is removed from the outer casket shell, just before the cremation. The cardboard coffin is then cremated along with the deceased. The internal coffin is made of tough cardboard, strong enough to perform the function of a conventional wooden casket.
As an environmentally-friendly product or cardboard coffins are made from corrugated board and an internal lining that fulfils all practical requirements for either a traditional funeral or a simple eco-burial. Recycled materials make up 25% of the base and 75% of the pillow.
At the moment in the UK the local water authorities are testing a new process called Resumation. Resumation uses water and special soaps to breakdown the body, instead of gas and flames in Cremation. You still get “Ashes” back but it is much more environmentally friendly. As soon as this process is approved for use in Cheshire, we will be at the forefront of bringing it as an alternative to Cremation.
