Transferring existing Funeral plans
We get a lot of people contacting us asking about whether it’s possible to move a funeral plan from another Funeral Director to us. In short, the answer is yes. It’s important to remember that no matter where you purchased your funeral plan, it’s your money and you can use it wherever you chose. You are not tied to a particular Funeral Director.
We shall deal with the 3 most popular providers below, but if you have another provider it’s OK, we can still help. Just give us a call.
Golden Charter Plans
If you have taken out a policy from Golden Charter, then you simply give them a call and tell them that we are looking after the funeral and not the Funeral Director who sold you the plan. Easy as that!
A Golden Charter funeral plan has a final value which we can use for payment of one of our services. As Golden Charter don’t normally cover 3rd party fees or Disbursements then there is often a shortfall in the funeral bill that the family must cover. As our costs are significantly lower than every other Funeral Director in the area, then you will find its better value to use us instead.
If you have taken out a plan from Dignity (John Garsides). Then you need to cancel your existing policy and then then get your money back, from here we can set you up with one of our policies and save you some money!
You will be charged a £249 admin fee, but as our funeral costs are significantly lower than Dignity, you will probably find £249 will be more than offset. Usually you will have money left over.
To cancel your Dignity policy.
If you have had the Funeral Plan more than 30 days then you can cancel the policy, but will be charged £249 as an admin fee. You will then receive the money back to you, less the admin fee within 14 days.

Any notification of cancellation should specify all of the following details: (i) the Plan number; (ii) the full name and address of the Planholder (iii) the Planholder’s date of birth; and (iv) a telephone number and/or email address for contact purposes should there be any issue with the cancellation. There will be additional security questions where the Plan is cancelled by telephone or by e-mail.
If you have taken out a plan from Co-op. Then just the same as with Dignity, you need to cancel your existing policy and then then get your money back. From here we can set you up with one of our policies and save you some money!
You will be charged a £250 admin fee, but as our funeral costs are significantly lower than Co-op, you will probably find £250 is more than offset. Usually you will have money left over.
To cancel your Co-op Funeral Plan
If you have had the Funeral Plan more than 30 days then you can cancel the policy, but will be charged £249 as an admin fee. You will then receive the money back to you, less the admin fee.
